Abstract:
It is the purpose of this project to fine-map and validate the effect of a fiber length QTL on chromosome 25 that is believed to be the product of a G. barbadense introgression in the germplasm line, Sealand 883. Currently associated with 8 tightly linked SSR markers, we have deployed the QTL within regionally adapted cultivars to test its effect in different genetic backgrounds and to further locate the region in which the causal gene lies.
